I have newsletters and other printed material from the Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation, an organization that was involved in the development of Station Square.  The newsletters cover the 1977-80 period when Station Square was under construction.  They describe all of the structures and artifacts that were saved on the P&LE property, but there's no mention of the trolley canopy. I suspect that the canopy was simply demolished in 1967, which was a full ten years before preservation of the railroad station started.  I've always wondered what happened to the canopy's clock and large sign that listed trolley routes - is they at the Heinz Museum, in a warehouse somewhere, or in someone's garage?
By the way, the PH&LF newsletters stated that the Grand Concourse would be the largest restaurant in Pittsburgh.  One issue also reprinted a quote from Business Week magazine in 1977 stating that Station Square was the largest "structures recycling project" in the United States.
