Fed S recently mentioned the gauges in Columbus.

He is absolutely correct. According to the 1924 McGraw Electric Ry
Journal:
      - Columbus Ry Power & Light:
                    117.95 track miles @ 5' 2"
                     23.25 track miles @ 4' 8 1/2"
Also at 5' 2"- Columbus, New Albany & Johnstown Traction:
8.8 miles
      - Interurbans at 4' 8 1/2"
                     Columbus, Delaware & Marion
                     Columbus, Urbana & Western
Scioto Valley Ry & Power (third rail)
      - No gauge shown for Ohio & Southern Traction to Shadeville

This same Directory shows Cincinnati Traction at 5" 2 1/2"
Also New Orleans, West Penn
and Pittsburgh at 5' 2 1/2"

and Westmoreland County Ry at 5' 2"

and Phila at 5' 2 1/4"

and Toronto at 4' 10 1/2"

A QUESTION? WHAT WAS THE GAUGE ON PUBLIC SERVICE
IN CAMDEN. WAS IT LIKE PHILA?

I was able to ride the Columbus & Southern Ohio trolleys just before
they quit. I did not realize that the gauge was different at 5' 2".

Columbus had a good trolley system, then a good trolley bus system and
then a good private bus system. The present authority seems to be
doing well also. There is a light rail proposal also. There is good
riding thanks to the state capital, the university and the insurance
companies.

Does any one know how they ended up with 5' 2"?

And was Westmoreland County 5' 2"?

Remember from the porn movies...inches count!
