Around 1961, Denny Foley, who was one of the young workers at Arden at that
time (he helped put the roof on the original carbarn) told me the 1138
story. Back then, people were asking why a 1000 series car wasn't selected.
Denny said that the 1138 was in really good condition, and he mentioned
other reasons why it was selected....but I too have forgotten them.
Last year Denny sent me an e-mail when he saw one of my photos on a website.
He's been living in California and is retired now.
