You know something, guys? After buying a complete set of John's Milwaukee prints
and seeing what he can do with a scanner and the choice photo art of others
(purchased negatives), I am now almost ashamed to post the bulk of my Milwaukee
collection on my web site! I wish I could find bus and trackless trolley images
from the Brew City as crisp as the prints John sold me last month!!!!
I do know where I can get what is probably a choice shot of a Milwaukee
trackless trolley. There is a well known photographer of Pittsburgh trolleys and
co-author of two volumes on a certain type of traction technology who let it
slip that he possesses this little gem, an image an he snapped while
photographing a certain well known interurban that used to connect the Brew City
to the Windy City or vice versa.
I may still purchase lousy Pittsburgh and Milwaukee shots if there is something
special in the view, but Ed, Fred and John are slowly and painfully weaning me
off the impulse of buying the worst and lower grade mediocre shots out there. I
may than actually be able to afford both St. Pete models and still send our
daughter to college if I learn to use more discretion before clicking on the
"bid" icon! :-)
