I grew up about a half mile from Charlie's house. He delivered mail to
businesses on the North Side, and he always carried a camera in his mail
bag, grabbing shots whenever a trolley or train came into view. Charlie and
I shared trolley photography interests starting in 1955, and we covered the
last day of 5-Spring Hill trolleys together in October, 1957.

Tonight a man in Birmingham, Alabama called me for information about some
photos he saw on the Fallen Flags website, and he mentioned that he has many
of Charlie's photos from the 1950s.
