I think the P&WV book covers this, I'll look tonight.

The Olmstead report suggests it was at some point Banksville all the way
up the hill: (from www.pghbridges.com/articles/olmsted/02main/olm083.htm)

"(b) West Broadway Extension. -- West Broadway should be extended along
the present street car route from Snyder Street south to the junction of the
Banksville and West Liberty Roads."

But, where was Snyder? Again, guess I have to wait until I get home to
look at maps.
