That's the south end all right.
The right-of-way for the Overbrook lines is up even higher than what is 
visiable in this photo.  
The car is probably a 39 Brookline or 38 Mt. Lebanon.  Those lines used 
to come down  Arlington Avenue to the left of the tunnels, briefly onto 
Rt. 51 before
turning up West Liberty Ave.  In the 30's a right-of-way ramp was built 
off of line 42 Dormont so that routes 38 and 39 could cross highway Rt. 
51, and descend into the middle of West Liberty Ave.
