Well hi guys and gals. I just returned to the left coast after a 16 day round trip to Mass. and kids -grandkids, pausing at PTM going thru Penn. of course. Saw the amazing work of Justin on PSTCo. dbl end PCC #14 for myself. The guy does a beautiful job. The most amazing part of the trip was the Birney car displayed at the Tulsa,Supulpa Union Ry. in Supulpa Ok. Actually under a sort of open-sided roofed structure and enough room for a picture on a sunday when that operation is closed. Its right on RT 66 there at the outskirts of Supulpa. The town itself is a trowback to the turn of the century. The other amazing find was a streetcar operation in El Reno Ok (20 miles west of Ok City.) of Rt.40 . The sign on the freeway proclaims a trolley on rails!! That it is , and loops thru downtown El Reno , but NO OVERHEAD WIRES !! I could not figure out the origin of this propane operated car, but it was a dbl truck vehicle. Come to find out it is an ex-PSTCo. 60 series 3rd rail car from the Norristown-69th St. line which has been re-built by the Miner Car Co. in Iowa. It now sports a deck roof where the A/C is located and flip over seats and wood panelled interior and a baggage door on one end for the wheel chair lift. It starts out from the former Rock Island depot,(now a Railway and other stuff museum bldg. ) The area there has the old El Reno hotel of 1800 vintage and other bldgs. The entire town is again a turn of the century vintage. The car, which is dbl ended, runs from a one car carhouse next to the depot, thru down town on a figure 8 route and returns to the depot on a stub end so is double ended in operation. This line operates wed thru sundays and monday holidays. Worth a stop if your going east or west on the I-40 or even a trip to there just to ride it. enjoyable. The RR museum is loaded wsith stuff !!! cheers rogertrolley
