On Saturday, 15--March--2003, it will be exactly 3-years ago when Ray
Lattner opened the idea of the Historic route along East Carson.

The whole thing started when I proposed a
*Theoretical--Historic--Operation* in Pittsburgh to elucidate
comments from John Swindler who works with govt. grants.

At that time and on another trolleycar list, one person said that the
F-Market line here in SF is NOT a 1.)--Transit--Line but is
strictly 2.)--Historic. This person went on to make other claims
including that SF-Muni did not have legal liability for operation of
the line (who would, then?) and that all transit in the US is divided
into these above two categories.

I posed the question on line by stating that the 40-line would be
re-incarnated by importing surplus trolleycars from SF and essentially
doing in Pgh. what SF did here to see if the above claims were true or
false. Drove John bonkers for a while until I revealed the
intent. Of course, this claimed Historic--Designation as opposed
to Transit was complete fantasy.

This then took off into a discussion of actually setting up an
**Historic TrolleyCar Line** in Pgh. It started on Tuesday,
14-March-2000 and ended *abruptly* on Monday, 20-March-2000 when I
made the following statement, and I quote:::::::

""--""--** -- >> -->>->	I  MAKE  A  MOTION  that we informally
organize to proceed to survey the practicality of restoring on-street
trolleycar service related to downtown Pittsburgh - the route to be
established after all options are considered.--""--""

I save 95% or better of the posts and have all this as one text file.

You might look for it in the archives ----
