But don't forget that Pittsburgh Railways did offer express bus services to
the east end by way of the Parkway East. For example, there was a Wilkinsburg
via Parkway bus (which I rode once and then caught a connecting 87 car to East
Pittsburgh). They were in business to make money and they did try. They also
had an Ohio River Boulevard bus that competed with their own 13 car line but
it would have been faster to Ben Avon and Emsworth. Look at the 1950s route
map ... there were a lot of Through Bus routes.
