The middle one is definately by Donald Duke. The third one looks like Charles Savage's work but sadly it is not one of the negatives I had a chance to print.. And yes, the first one is mine. Trouble is, one never knows how stuff circulates. We all have material in our collections that have gone through a long line of collectors. It may simply be the 4x5 print that was later replaced by a 5x7, or one of the
5x7s may also be in circulation. It was probably not copied from any book ... I have two almost identical negatives taken at 6th and Penn Sts. The one that was published was a 6/13 car. The print up for sale shows a 22 CROSSTOWN car.
As I think back to those days, I can't understand why PRC even bothered to run route 22 cars in the evening because routes 8, 5/13, 10, 15 and 21 all ran into the north side. .. probably giving a combined frequency of at least 9 cars an hour. Furthermore, any one riding route 22 for a few blocks downtown had to pay a fare upon entering, while all other lines effectively had a no fare zones downtown. It was not
in the tariff but as a simple matter of reality, using pay enter inbound and pay leave outbound allowed people to get on a car anywhere downtown, ignore the farebox, and get off a few blocks later still ignoring the treasury.
