If any of you felt close to Tom Phillips during the period that he was
on this address list, you may wish to read the note from Cappy, his
daughter, that I've pasted in between the two rows of plus signs:

On Monday, Dad went in for an angioplasty (balloon to open up
veins/arteries
in the heart.)  He ended up having emergency bypass surgery instead.  He
had
two bypasses.

He's doing great!  Ornery as ever!  grin   Saw him last night (Tuesday)
and
talked to him a couple of times today.  He's in the Washington Hospital
Center, Washington, DC, rm 4NW-10.  His room phone number is
202-877-4970.
Give him a call!  I'm sure he'd get a kick out of it!

He's due to be home on Friday or Saturday.  I'm not sure if he's coming
here, to his house, or will go to Jackie's house.  She's going to be his

caretaker, us kids will run errands (and do computer junk for him!
grin)
