We have first quiz here. What surprise! I'm answering what I know. You will
see what I don't know and then you can provide appropriate information.
01.>-- How many bolts in the All-Electric Track Brake?
Westinghouse??
GE??
Haven't chance to compare WAB and GE, but WAB seem to have 4 bolts. And was
there any significant difference?
02.>-- How many PRCo PCCs had fans?
1 and 100 units - 1600 and 1700s.
03.>-- How many fans on PRCo 1700s?
Five.
04.>-- What spring tension is recommended by Ohio Brass for
trolley poles with wheels and
at what wire height?
Unfortunately, haven't seen any specification yet.
05.>-- What is maximum acceleration rate of PRCo PCC?
4.75 mphps. I expect that heavier postwar cars were slower in acceleration.
About 4 mphps?
06.>-- What is Standard Service Braking Rate of
PRCo PCC?
The same as the acceleration - 4.75 mphps.
07.>-- What is Emergency Braking Rate of
PRCo PCC?
9 mphps. Or 8 mphps for postwar cars.
08.>-- Which PRCo PCCs had *Butterfly__Windows?*
Front windows. 100, 1000s, 1100s and 1200s.
09.>-- Which PRCo PCCs had split Destination Sign Glazing?
100 and 1000s.
10.>-- What is the new number of the PCC Instruction Car?
M 11.
11.>-- List All PRCo Westinghouse PCC cars.
100, and all xx00-xx74, except for 1500s - only 1500-1549 are WE.
12.>-- Which PRCo Car Houses Never Saw GE-PCC Cars?
Charleroi, Tylerdale, Plummer St., Herron Hill, Carrick, Highland Park,
Homewood, Glenwood.
Keating, Millvale, Manchester and Ingram had GEs early (eventually both GE
and WE cars), Tunnel and Creft Ave. received used GE cars later.
13.>-- Which series PRCo PCC car was first popular for
exterior full-body advertizing???
1400s. But 100 was the very first in 1939.
14.>-- Which PRCo PCC cars had St. Louis B3 trucks?
Original equipment: 1700-1724, 1615-1619, 1645-1648; 1613 and 1614 were
experimental, but delivered with B-2s. Some early experimental B-3s were
under 1230 (have a picture of 1225 with the first experimental set of B-3s)
and 1278.
15.>-- How many rivets in the body of the standard PRCo
PCC Car?
PCC structure is welded! But there are some rivets keeping roof moldings,
bottom
of prewar side sheets and maybe anticlimbers too.
16.>-- Which is the first series of PRCo PCC to be delivered
with a different exterior paint scheme?
Do you mean the watch glass on 1700s?
17.>-- Which PCC saw the first Revenue service
in the world???
PRCo 100. I hope.
> 18.>-- Which PRCo PCCs were sent to foreign properties
to stay? Which cars to which Properties?
PRCo did not sell used PCCs. But lend 1095 to Cleveland and 1253 to
Louissville for demobstrating service. 1264 was displayed on flatcar in
Buffalo.
19.>-- What was the first modification of exterior paint
to appear during *repainting* of PCC cars?
Cream watch glass adopted from 1700s. I assume the V-front and simplified
paint scheme shy of the red roof strip were used somewhat later.
20.>-- When did the newspapers first report the purchase
of a PCC car by PRCo???
By spring 1936, but haven't seen exact date.
21.>-- On what exact date did PCC-100 start free
demonstration rides?
Do you remember the discussion on PCC_Cars group? Mentioned was the mistake
in PCC From Coast To Coast - there are incorrect dates. Seems from that the
100 started regular service in August after two weeks of demonstrating rides
starting on 12th September. Obviously nonsense. And I haven't any other
source of information, so can't answer
For how long did these rides last???
Two weeks.
> 22.>-- On what date was PCC-100 received by PRCo???
26th July 1936.
23.>-- On what date was PRCo-1000 received?
Because I haven't got any PRCo roster, must leave these questions
unanswered. Sorry. Continue by question 36.
