The 1934 American Transit Association's convention had 3 different Pre-PCC designed cars in attendence. Dr. Hirshfeld was behind this move to show people that they were working on producing the standard car at a reasonable cost whereas the Chicago car previously seen was a $40,000 item, too costly for most properties. He was talking in the range of $15,000 per car. Washington DC Transit opted for 20 cars of the Hirshfeld design but the order was split, with 10 cars from Brill 10 from St. Louis Car Co. They wished to try these on one line with a total conversion. Pix of the body is on page 192 in the St. Louis Car Co. book. Text on pages 198-199.So the question is which cars were which and what was #1053 from NTL CAPITOL MUSEUM ??? cheers rogertrolley unfortunatly my capacity to send these pix out to you all is nill as I am computer illiterate in this phase of it. SORRY
