In addition to what FRed said about Los Angeles,(commuter rail is called METROLINK, Fred ) There is a MUST SEE line in San Pedro about 2 miles long that just opened before the Pasadena Gold Line Did. There are 2 replica Pacific Electric Red cars in the #500 class and that former rubber tired PE #1058 (a re-build by the late Richard Fellows of a half burnt body of a ten hundred series car added to a half-body of a 900 series car dragged over from the Terminal Island scrap yard to his boat yard )(GOT THAT ?) PE tens went to #1057 so he numbered this to #1058. ------This car also runs on this line. Operations are Friday thru Monday and runs on ex-SP trackage along the waterfront. Fog is prevelent in the AM hours at this time of year. Stations are high platform to be ADA complient. The cars have trap doors like RR cars and regular steps like they used to have. The replica cars are beautiful but sport the dark red colors of old PE. #1058 has the newer red applied after 1935 or so. enjoy cheers rogertrolle
