Good Morning!


Not long ago we were discussing the conversion of these streets from 2 
way to one way.       In  *Pittsburgh__Then__&__Now*  Penn Ave. 
northeast from Twenty-Eighth is shown on pg.116 as 1935.01.06 and there 
is only one track at the railroad crossing and only one overhead 
wire.       The rails and RR crossings for the other track were 
apparently lifted out and replaced with Belgian Block!

Another photo,  pg.168 Penn looking northeast from #1715, 1937.07.22,  
shows 2 tracks but one overhead.       Would assume that agreements with 
RR would require immediate removal of unused crossing and thus rails in 
immediate vicinity were replaced as well.       Seems like one way 
operation along these streets was quite early.
