The Tunnel opened on Dec. 4, 1904.  While it was being built bridges to
Beechview were also being constructed.  They were probably finished
about the same time but I never checked.

How did streetcars get to West Liberty Ave. in 1903 before the Tunnel?

The trolley line opened to Beechview in or after 1904 (records are at
the
PTM Library, not at home with me!).  The original (1903) Charleroi
routing
was out West Liberty Avenue.  The trolley tunnel opened up that whole
Beechview/Fallowfield/Dormont area.
