Ahaa, yes, the 1161 fantrip. Your right, Jim.
I remember this fantrip as being a farewell trip over 94, 95 and 96. And as
with most PERC fantrips of that era, one of the first orders of business at
the start was to install a special rollsign. That accounts for the 84
Larimer headsign in photo.
I always thought the reason for the special rollsigns was to include some
special destinations for the fantrip such as: "FARE - $4.50" or "84
Larimer", etc. Only much later concluded that it was to have available the
routes covered by the fantrip. After all, it was a time when fantrips would
cover routes operated from several different car houses.
The shoo-fly on Library was for removal of the wooden trestle just south of
..... I want to say Mesta. There was a highway traffic clearance problem.
May have also been a safety concern with driver sight lines at intersection
on east side of trestle, but I only remember the low clearance under the
trestle.
Jim - didn't the Library cars have to wait for a special signal to cross the
new highway grade crossing after removal of the trestle???
