Skybus was a good idea flawed in implementation plan. Small cars,
troublesome turnouts (the 2nd "Transit Expressway" report detailed a
working design for these, but it was cumbersome), and it was only going to
be one line: everyone else got a busway. Of course the eventual plan still
resulted in only slightly more rail, and the east end still got a busway.
The busway, as it's being used, is hit-or-miss depending what lines you
use. It's basically a wash if you go to Oakland like I do: there's no
express service to Oakland, and the change of bus plus the walk from the
nearest EBO stop to my office easily consume the time advantage of using
the busway instead of Penn, Dallas, Wilkins and Beeler.
