Certainly off topic for PRCo, but as a thought to fare cards from one system being used on another system is this. I used my BART farecard on Washington DC metro subway in the 1980s. They apparently used the same system as the BART card worked fine in DC, taking the amount of the fare and returning the card with the balance accurate.
