Uh, I believe the "ferrous deposit"  Fred was referring to is the entire
car. :-)

1613 originally had a pilot that looked as if it was more at home on a
2-8-2 steamer. Gone throughmy pictures, that monstrosity of a pilot was
still on the car as late as 1971. I have a CERA book showing a mid or late
1970s shot of the car with with a regular safety basket fender.

When I last saw the car in service during late 1979, it still had a regular
fender (and a fresh PRCO style repaint with too much  yellow in the cream.)
