The packer of Irish Brand meats...and the name escapes me right now...was on
Herr's Island also.  It was probably the (or a) sucessor to the company
named on the plat that Bob Netzlof referred us to.  Maybe Bob Rathke will
come to the rescue here!

Speaking about meat packing plants.  were they on Herr's island?

In Manhattan, there was a large packing plant with live cattle on
42dt sreet at 11th Ave..  This became the siite of a Greyhound Garage
and is now the site of a large NYCT bus depot.

Going to the 42d street ferry or the dayline boat was a smelly experience.
