[PRCo] E. Ohio St.Carbarn

I've commented on this before, but parts of the carbarn on E. Ohio St. east
of Chestnut St. were still in existence in the late 1950's, although I
neglected to photograph them at that time.  In 1957, I saw the carbarn
tracks in the automotive garage of  Zwick's Gulf Station which was then at
that site.  This was well above the flood plain, and maybe 8 feet below the
PRR tracks on the Canal St. viaduct.

I did photograph this area during the flood of March, 1964 when the water
rose well above Progress St., and came close to Canal St.

In March, 1964, flood waters closed the Penn-Lincoln Parkway through
downtown.  The B&O station was unaffected, and it actually hosted B&O
mainline trains that normally used the P&LE station which was closed for a
few days.  I took photos of the B&O mainline trains that had to back into
the B&O station from Laughlin Jct. - just like the days before the B&O
acquired trackage rights over the P&LE in the early 1930's.
