Car 1711 not be part of the opening day celebration, at least not in
Pittsburgh or Allegheny County. Anyone who wishes to notice it may do so at
PTM! Many considerations went into this decision, not the least of which
involved the pantograph and the higher voltage. PTM this summer will be
undertaking the largest project in its history...moving 30 or so cars into
the new blimp hangar in a 10-day period. It's huge (the project, though so
is the hangar!). Further, Port Authority would not open the line until
later in the year if it weren't for FTA insistence. There aren't enough
cars on hand to do it properly, but they will limp through until there are.
So the celebration won't be what it otherwise might be. Let's be happy for
what we get!

Ed

Are you sure with 1711? Will PTM make large number of holes into its roof?
But if I visit Pgh and Arden in July, then the car is back at PTM.
