Rather than bore you with the gory details... yeah, what Jim said.
Anyway, on another topic, you can search by image number at the Pitt
digital library site now
(http://images.library.pitt.edu/cgi-bin/i/image/image-idx/)
Search for "msp285.b010.f19.i0" as the image identifier to find it (they
added a search by image identifer recently)
Zoom in on the portion of Braddock Avenue at left, to full zoom. You will
notice:
1) where 2 tracks merge to one so the PRR East Pittsburgh branch can share
the street.
2) the East Pittsburgh branch entering the street.
3) that both are in the street where they pass the bridge that connected
to the road to McKeesport. (meaning you could have wrong-way-running
streetcars when you came off that bridge)
4) no floodgates.
5) something that looks like an old road right of way toward the hillside
from the current Braddock Avenue right of way, with steps up to the houses
at railroad level. I'm not sure what the deal is there, and it will
probably take a trip or two to do some research to find out.
