I worked with a man (now dead) who knew the history of an Italian family
in Johnstown whose patriarch was the head of one of the two local
political parties. His business partner was the head of the other
party. (Note I'm being careful here.) One of them was a member of a
certain Sicilian brotherhood (his brother for whom I worked would tell
you there was no such organization). At any rate, the man I worked with
told me that these two partners sold meat during World War II that was
not rationed. And it was horse. And my colleague said he knew because
he also worked for them and carried the deposits to the bank. So
there. (And EHL has also probably heard all of my colleague'sstories
on nights we all went out together. The key word is the Ranch.)
