You did put your self in a position where the cop could see you, now
didn't you. I'm still amused how much difficulty the cop was having
trying to get four people to stop taking pictures. Every time he turned
his back, a shutter would click behind him. He simply could not keep on
top of it. By the way, he was a rather nice chap ... just doing what his
superiors ordered him to do. I met him again two weeks later on sentry
duty.
Amtrak used to have a police officer in Lancaster who would give the
impression that the only way to deal with the public is fire first, then
ask questions. The man was always in confrontation with people. He
could even pick a fight with train passengers. Well, one day Amtrak ran a
charter train to mark the demise of the GG1 motors ... two motors and
perhaps 18 coaches filled with fans. And he was on duty when they stopped
for pictures in Lancaster. They were supposed to have a runby with
everyone lined up on the station platforms. But there was no way you
could confine 500 people to the platforms. It was just so much fund
watching him loose control of the situation. You know the expression,
"Couldn't happen to a nicer guy."
