Using the "zoom in" tool as far as it would take me, I could barely make
out what the etched name on that building is. It's not J&L and it is
not "Pittsburgh Railways."
I thought at one point it had the word 'bridge' in it, and maybe
'american,' but I am not sure.
Someone with good close-up vision (that's not me), give it a try.
First make the jpeg as large as possible, clicking on the biggest
rectangle you see on the left. Then click on the "+" sign and then put
your cursor where you want on the photo and click. It will zoom in
continually as much as you want, repeating the above process, up to a
certain zoom level.

That's definitely a PCC signed for "50 Carson Street."

I thought perhaps that was a wye area for the car to back into.
Could this be the area where the loop between Carson and Sarah streets
used to be? I don't think it is given the way the double overhead and
tracks seem to continue on from that point, on what is presumably Carson
Street.

This is a great historical photo. Glad you found it and shared it, Ray!
