Now one of our local light rail opponents has written to the newspaper that the London attacks are the perfect reason for not supporting mass transit.
He likened it to corralling cattle together for a slaughter. He said it is a lot harder to kill a large number people if they are in individual autos rather than being trapped together by the hundreds in a single train.

So what happens when traffic is backed up in tunnel, on a major bridge or even a long expressway ramp? Couldn't some terrorist simply launch a missile into such structures (or plant a bomb) and kill a lot of people? Being in individual vehicles didn't help all those people on the Nimitz Freeway in Oakland during the 1989 earthquake.
