In the years I looked at Pittsburgh ... starting about 1952 ... I do not
remember any many in the "miscellaneous" or "M" series that were not painted
solid orange with black trim.  Same applied to the freight motors F-1 through
F-9.   The exceptions were M-10 (which was the normal low floor orange with
maroon doors and sash, M-11 which remained in the standard PCC livery, and some
of the single truck former passenger cars which remained in solid deep red,
such as the pay car M-1 and some of the older rail grinders and sand cars.  The
portable rail grinders R55 and R59 were also orange.
