Besides visits to doctors' offices upstairs, I remember the Jenkins Arcade
lobby, and mostly as a shortcut in cold weather. In the early 1950's the
first floor had a couple of interesting stores: Wayne Travel Service which
always had railroad brochures in their take-one rack, and a hybrid
stationery/gift shop that sold stuff that you couldn't find anywhere else -
things like Mexican jumping beans .
