Milwaukee did indeed, take exceptional care of their rolling stock and 
infrastructure, though some streetcars did start getting a bit "raggedy" 
towards the end of service. Also, some post TM operators such as KMCL, 
Greyhound, etc. didn't exactly worry about how nice the interurban cars 
looked in the last months of their ownership.
The pictures of trackless trolley 132 was taken right around its retirement 
in 1962. The 500 series deck roof (former P.A.Y.E. cars) were built in 1910 
or so.
