John Bromley gave me a print of a fantrip car ... 1699 in front of the
Edgar Thompson Works in Braddock dated July 11, 1965.  John and I both
know that route 55 had been broken in 1964, and that route 65 LINCOLN
PLACE cars had to use a round about route from Craft Avenue to East
Pittsburgh, then onto the intact portion of route 55 to get into
Homestead.  I don't know if 55/65 was a functional route or if the
tracks from Homestead to East Pittsburgh were used only to deadhead cars
to the barn.

What is strange about the picture is that the rail heads on both inbound
and outbound tracks are completely rusty ... as if nothing had run over
them before the fantrip for the last several rail storms.

Was the fantrip date correct?  Or was 1699 used for an after abandonment
trip?

Was 55 running from Homestead to East Pittsburgh after 1964?  Or just
barn cars?

Next problem is that the slide was taken by Joe Jessel and he was noted
for running private fantrips.  So maybe the question is, how long after
the September 1965 abandonment of route 65 were the tracks still usable?

Anyone out there got any clues?
