O'Connor proposed this early in his campaign, and after opponents 
starting calling  him things like, "the trolleycar candidate" and 
critcizing him for this (saying it would cost a fortune, etc.) he didn't 
speak much about it afterwards.   There were supporters of his idea, but 
the critics seemed the loudest.
As I recall, in his original idea about the line from town to Oakland, 
he thought that businesses might foot the bill or part of it.   Not sure 
what businesses he had in mind.

Naturally, I'd love it.   There is a large amount of bus riders from 
town to Oakland and vice versa, everyday, during the day.    The reason 
is, it would stand to reason, employees, students, patrons of the 
University of Pittsburgh and employees and patients of UPMC.
