Sunday, October 9, 2005:
Kenosha WI "News" columnist Bill Guida bguida at k... , who does an
imitation Mike Royko-like column in the local Sunday Kenosha "News"
....... compared the projected 300,000-annual attendance figures of the
proposed new Civil War Museum to "puffery".

Guida went on to say "I couldn't see anyone taking the projected visitor
numbers any more seriously than the unbelievably optimistic ridership
figures for the city's trolley (sic) reported annually."

That concluded his remarks on the streetcars yesterday. (He gave no
factual reasons for his pessimism.)

The City's annual figures for the current line are in the 60,000+ range,
as reported in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, which added the line is
the only SE WI transit system to show a ridership increase for 2003-2004.

If my math is good that works out to 164.4 passengers A Day On
Average ---- assuming a 7-day week - actual operations may not be
7-day in which case actual ridership/day would be Higher!!
