I even was able to correct one of the errors during the last reprinting!
Some still remain, such as a missing car house (Troy Hill) and the early
West Penn track between Wilmerding and McKeesport.  There may well be more;
I don't keep a list of them in my head.  It is simply not possible, as Fred
says, to record every change...especially on an 11 x 25 piece of paper.  All
in all, Mac McGrew did a commendable job.

1.   There are errors in the PERC map.  Ed found some; I don't know
if he found all.

2.   An all-time map can represent only a "point in time" whereas
track configurations to change over time.   For example, companies
also commonly adjusted siding locations to variations in running
times as vehicle loads changed through the years.   A railway might
have been nice enough to give you a clue by renaming Siding A to
Siding B or you may just accidentally discover that the distance
between C and D changed from 3200 feet to 2800 feet while that from D
to E changed from 2900 feet to 3300 feet.   Another example ... there
used to be a trailing crossover on Perrysville Avenue north of East
Street where route 8 cars reversed.   This was no longer needed after
Keating Car House opened and the 8 line was extended farther north.
It may or may not show on the map, if it does or does not it will be
wrong for some point in time.   (Unless, of course, it was never
removed.)

(I may have used a very bad example with the route 8 crossover.   My
mother had a girl friend in Perry High School who came in from
Warrendale on the PHB&NC interurban back in the days when rural
school children received high school diplomas in city schools.   My
mother said something about her coming in on a school car ... could
be true or could be faulty memory.   If true, might have used the
crossover or might have gone to Keating.)

There is a track book in the library that you may wish to look
through when you come to Pittsburgh next spring.....
