West side would be, of course, the West Flats........now a deserted and "bad" area.......only two or three "strip" clubs and a couple run down bars left in that once thriving area. So the place you mentioned is probably gone or moved somewhere else. Mostly, everything moved to the "Warehouse District" in the west end of downtown.
The West Flats served its purpose from the mid-1970s to the turn of the century. The baby boomers (I'm one) grew up and didn't want the same ole, same ole type of nightlife. People and their entertainment matured. The Warehouse District is really great. Very good restaurants, bars, clubs, apartments, lofts, etc. Even RTA has its head offices in the Warehouse District. All of downtown Cleveland is really alive with former factories, office buildings, and older apartment buildings rebuilt into apartments, condos, and lofts.
My building was built in 1887 and has been rebuilt. It still looks the same on the outside but the inside has been redone. My apartment is a two bedroom. It has a long (about 30 feet) hallway from the front door to the rear of the apartment. Off this hall are all the other rooms. At the entrance a short hallway (7 feet) to the right takes you to the walk-in entrance closet and the bath. Next, to the left is one bedroom (now my office/computer room), next right the main bedroom, then left a large archway into the living room (with fake fireplace.....I guess they don't want tenants building live fires), then at the end of the hallway is the dining room. Walk to the center of the east wall of the dining room an there is the archway to the large (eat-in type) kitchen. The smallest room is the computer room at 11 feet x 10 feet. Also, the dining room, living room and office are connected with archways. One may then take either the hall or the "shortcut" archways to pass between rooms. All ceilings are 11 feet high and the windows are giant things. Lots of natural light! The best thing is the price. I pay 550.00 per month and the management company pays the heat (steam) and the cooking gas. I only pay electric. Prices like this are bringing people into downtown (to live) in droves! I haven't lived in a place with big rooms like this since I was a small child.
