We will also see how long the spike lasts. Price movements like this are
generally based on fear of shortages rather than actual shortages, so prices
may moderate a bit after the holiday. But everything is ultimately impacted
by the price of oil.
Janis and I are still planning a week's drive through Virginia, North
Carolina and Tennessee in two weeks, unless something major happens. And
with any luck the two cruises we have contracted for won't add fuel
surcharges. Air fares? Who knows?

Well, think about that. As much as I like to argue with Jim Holland,
this time I agree that we have reached a very high gas price. It's
over $3 here for a gallon and I understand regular topped $3.20 in
Bucks County yesterday. She may not be driving as much as you
think. And I'm thinking about the the cost of working in Baltimore
tomorrow, the PCC opening on Girard in Philly on Sunday and a couple
of trips to Pittsburgh in the near future and suddenly that is $250
worth of fuel. Even I might slow down a little.
It will be interesting to see how this affects the CPI and it turn
how much it inflates costs of everything.
