To Boris and Jim and anyone else crazy enough to have followed the
earlier thread:
I found the following notes. I have no clue what the source is,
probably out of old ERA Headlights.
Two pair of special trucks with soft coil springs applied to 1225 and
1248 in 1940 and 1941 for several months. Drum brakes instead of
shoes. Subsequently removed, altered, and applied to 1230 and 1278.
Third set of trucks on 1230 and 1278 in summer of 1945; in service on
route 37 Shannon. These trucks later to 1613 and 1614 as follows:
Jan. 14, 1946 to 1613. May 1946 to 1614.
Additional ten sets of trucks ordered 1946.
For three and a half to four months in early 1947, 1614 had B-2
trucks while the St. Louis trucks were being "repaired." Early in
the winter of 1946-1947, 1614 was equipped with modified B-2 trucks
and made test trip over interurban to Washington, returned to city
service with those trucks. Although they were not informed of the
change of trucks, the operators handling it made many favorable
comments as to the superior ride quality of this particular car.
1644 entered interuban service in early 1947
Cars 1615 and 1616 in interurban service with new B-3 trucks, January
1948.
End of page of notes. There is no more. Don't ask for any more.
END. 10-4.
