Not really suffering. Only Muni equipment with AC is Breda lrvs
-- And Cable Cars!!! 90-degrees in SF may be like 75 - 80 in
Pittsburgh! But tis one of the reasons I work nights -- just get
bright sun for several hours in the evening, then the sun disappears and
it is Very Pleasant -- people are closing the windows on the bus by
10-PM and even earlier!!! On a **-Normal-** day in SF people are
closing the windows even at 4-PM!! This recent Heat Wave was very
unusual for San Francisco -- in the 30 years I have been here we might
get one day in the Fall when it is possible to step outdoors without a
jacket at Mudnight! Here we had a couple weeks in the middle of
summer! Understand that the High that has brought us this Hot
weather is moving your direction, and it hasn't been exactly Cool in
the rest of the country anyhow. From weather reports I have seen
everyone in the midwest and east was hovering very close to a Humid
100 every day.
.
Normally a subway is very temperate weather wise, at least it was in
Chicago --- Cool in summer and pleasant in winter. But Very
hot in Muni subway at all times and Boeing cars were Very Unpleasant
((either Boston cars came thus equipped or it was retrofitted to a
number of vehicles as slide to open windows were cut into the upper part
of each picture window)) -- I tell everyone that the SF subway is so
hot because SF is much closer to Hell -- No One has challenged me on
that!!
.
Passengers get on bus: """Isn't it really nice today?!?!""" Dead
Silence. """Ohhh! That's right!""" they will exclaim:
"""You Like The Fog And Rain.""" But not for any reasons that they
would guess!!!
.
I live on the Judah Car Line in the Sunset at the top of the hill from
the Ocean -- we Normally have Fog until noon or later which is nice
for me so I can sleep (4-AM til about Noon.) But I felt somewhat
better with all the sun and warmth -- something to do with age
probably!!! Sun was up rather early today (first time in about a
week) and it is 80 inside my apartment now -- Very Pleasant.
Wearing a long sleeve shirt but Not At All Uncomfortable. Get good
cross ventilation here.
.
I am told that Mark said that about Many Places -- even Seattle!!
