I love the Pittsburgh Railways records...they burned all-steel cars before
they rendered them! The only wood on the dump cars was the cab roofs and
trolley boards, and the only other flammable component would have been the
insulation.

Wouldn't have made much of a fire.

Notes indicate that 517 was converted to Weed Sprayer on 19340519 --
Sorry for the oversight. It doesn't list a disposition for the car
but we now know it went to PTM.
.
515 and 516 were burned at West Park on 19320126 and 19320417
respectively.
.
515 was sold to DLCo on Brunots Island 19481104.
.
Of the low 500s all were scrapped by burning by 1935 at WP except for
M503 which was burned at Millvale. But 502 was converted to the
2nd M541 on 19300611 and is listed as a Loco, for Rail Car(!!), a
little over 76 years ago; this 2nd M541 was scrapped by burning at
Ingram 19511206.

trucks under 3618 - the Boston Elevated bottom dump. M517 was pretty
decrepit when we got it, and we contracted our weed spraying in those days,
so it was never considered for preservation...just parts.

and details are sketchy -- nothing as to builder nor date nor if motorized
or just trailers. Most, but not all, sold to DLCo on Brunots Island.
