Thanks Jim and Fred. Makes sense.
Man-o-man, wish I would have been old enough or had a railfan for a parent,
grandparent, uncle, aunt, etc. who have taken me out on some of the lines
before they were abandoned. I would not have probably recalled the
Trafford line if they'd taken me, but I would have remembered the 56
McKeesport line, the 55 line and 65 line.
Living in Munhall now, I see remnants of those 3 carlines here and there.
The road pavers have been scraping around Mifflin Road and the side street
(think it starts with a 'K') where the 56 cars crossed over, just after they
left the side of the road outbound on Mifflin and travelled up around the
Calhoun Trailer Park. Anyway, there is currently plain evidence of where
the tracks crossed on this currently scraped side street. It's not actual
trackage. Just asphalted paths of where the tracks used to be.
