Below is a shot, very new to me, of a 39 Brookline car about to climb
the private-right-of-way ramp leading up to the junction with the
Dormont cars and to cross Saw Mill Run to get to the Transit Tunnel.

I can still recall how angry my aunt, a Brookline Blvd. resident, was
when the conversion was made to bus. Thus, the buses could not use the
prw ramp or the then-unpaved transit tunnel. She hated sitting on a bus
in the Liberty Tunnels, in morning and evening rush hour traffic. She
worked in Downtown. Shortly after, she moved to Voekle Street in
Dormont, a block away from the 42/38 carline.
