Looking Again at the photo and the construction to the left of 1523
(Our Right) it *-appears-* that the concrete abutment *-might-*
extend over the diverge track of that turnout. It is
*-Possible-* that the shoofly was relocated a number of times and
while service was operating a switch was cut in for a new direction to
the shoofly and the turnout would be set for the new direction as
construction proceeded -- the diverge move is now disabled I-F
this is the scenario.
.
A trolley wire frog still exists, not shown in the original photo (and
entirely too difficult to adjust lighting in the photo to make a decent
scan -- not worth the effort, but it is there ---- I-F you
believe me, NOT a feature of this list.) Seems strange that
PRCo would include a frog I-F it was just a realignment to the
shoofly -- Very simple to cut the overhead and splice in the new
direction, but cutting in the frog prevents calling the overhead crew to
the scene at the instant that the new direction is demanded.
