It's a repaving job.  The track is in brick of at least two vintages.  I'm
not quite sure of the history there...why were bricks renewed in some places
and not in others...

Removal of another half-inch of asphalt would have told us more.

Ed,

Is there re-paving being done and that is why the tracks are exposed, or
have they been in tact and revealed and visible all this time, say in
cobblestone or brick paving?
