[PRCo] Re: Cleveland Transit...

Sensitive to people other than me, This is the story:

I used to live in Pittsburgh, although born in Northeastern Ohio

I worked for PATransit and operated PCC trolleys

I moved back to Cleveland and now work for Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority

Pittsburgh was the home to many steel mills, but, sadly no longer is

Cleveland was the home to several steel mills and still is. In fact another rather large one just opened last year. I need to drive down East 49th St to get the name. Also, another one just changed ownership this year and is now putting out rolled steel 24/7. These two are neither related to the very large Mittal Steel operation in Cleveland, nor to the very large Alcoa Aluminum mills (name sound familiar) also in Cleveland. Thus, sometimes I will refer to Cleveland as 'New Pittsburgh'. Here the sky still lights up orange at night and on humid days the East Side smells like fire & brimstone. The docks (as in great lakes and ocean ships) are busy, the railroads are busy, over the road trucks are moving steel 24/7 and the transit authority is busy 24/7.

Pittsburgh used to have the Clark candy company, but, sadly no longer does.

I just bought a Clark bar (yes, the same Clark bar) at my favorite candy store in Tower City Center today. That was after I bought a half-pound of Isaly's Chopped Ham (yes, the same Isaly's) earlier today.

So, you will find my posts are as if we were all sitting around the 'fireside', having a nice 'chat' (hows that for 'the good ole days') while the conversation and the subjects change back and forth as with any lively conversation. Also, there are no email police stating that your post did not contain this or should have contained that. I don't buy into that narrow mindset. After all, why whine, get into a big huff, and create a 'scene' when pushing the "delete" key is so much easier ?

I have thought of putting a "disclaimer" in the beginning of my emails which have the "C" word in them. In fact I have said disclaimer written, however, it takes five minutes to read it.

Fred III has good comments on what I have just said. Ask for his opinion also.

  That's my story............and I'm sticking to it. !
