And to add more to my own message, within the last several years much
of the area along West McMurray Road from the creek to Morganza has
filled in with new homes. There was nothing but the Van Eman farm
on the south side of the road when the interurban was running. Today
the right of way is the middle of a street through a housing
development. You simply have to know which street. And once you
project it across the creek, then you need to be able to project a
straight line to Cheesman through the next housing development.
(The right of way can be followed from Snodgrass to Cheesman stops,
its from Snodgrass back to Van Eman that you need to project a
straight line because nothing is visible.
And the long curve north from Cheesman is hard to follow. Three
Rivers Volkswagen filled in the right-of-way on the west side of
Route 19 for a parking lot several years ago ... you can look south
from Cheesman but the famous picture of Ed Lybarger waiting at the
car stop for a 1600 on the last day looks TODAY AT A BIG PILE OF
DIRT. And on the other side of 19 the right-of-way is totally lost
in the cemetery. Maybe the late Robert H. Brown knew where it was
because he is allegedly buried on the right-of-way in that marble
orchard.
