Even before then, I think. D2 arose back in antedeluvian days when Derrick 
signed himself "D" and when I thought I might be the only other "D" here or at 
least second in seniority. Deuterium was your idea - I don't know nothing about 
that scientific !@$#.

Parenthetically, I _still_ can't identify the Freds correctly by number.

Not back then. But you must have been prescient. I've always signed "OD" to my 
nieces - for "Onkel Don", since both girls had lived in Germany and had 
pretensions to multilingualism. Now they both have children, I have become 
Great Onkel Don (Großonkel if you're a purist) which shortens to - you guessed 
it!

Don't think I ever really chose to sign DoG in this group - we have to thank 
Kenny J for keeping that one alive. And for inserting me in countless R Hill 
scenes that I could never have dreamt of inhabiting in real life.
