In the early 1960s after graduating from college, I accepted a position in North Jersey and to my amazement, I lived 2 years without an automobile,  had fast commuter train service to work, to shop, to church and to Manhattan and to the airport and train station, was able to travel between Pgh and NYC with little or no problems,  it was a carefree and happy time for me, and no car payments or car insurance and no TRAFFIC!   Then Vietnam War came and was stationed in Philly Naval Base and still no car, enjoyed Philly trollies, subways and no car Oh what a life!    >
