I liked this view particularly because it shows downtown Detroit  
before the imported automobiles had a deleterious affect upon  
domestic production and employment in that city, i.e. before the  
sucking sound you heard were all the jobs going to Japan, Germany,  
and Korea.    It shows a 1947 PCC with people all over the sidewalks  
in downtown Detroit ... when Hudson's Department store was the  
tallest department store in the United States.

Ah yes ... Hudsons.   They merged with Daytons Department Store of  
Minneapolis and gave that discount store called Target (which the  
jokesters have called the famous French store pronounced Tar-jA).
